Welcome to The Burnt Salad! Below average photos of above average food! Here, you’ll find recipes and ideas to make the everyday memorable. The pictures could be better, but the food is fantastic!
The Burnt Salad? Who burns salad?!?! Oh…. wait… I do! Well, I did! I was hosting my first girls night as a married lady and wanted to recreate a salad I had on my honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I placed a salad spinner full of chopped and spun lettuce a liiiiittle too close to the oven vent in our little apartment kitchen and voila! Burnt Salad!
The heat from the oven vent melted a huge hole in the plastic salad spinner and then stuck to the cooktop. Luckily no damage to the range, but my salad spinner was toast. No salad was served that night, but I created a fun name for this blog!
In a previous life, I was part of the culinary team for a casual dining restaurant chain. It was a lot of fun and afforded me some fantastic opportunities. I learned a lot about recipe development and how to write an easy to follow recipe. While i’ve moved on professionally, my love of creating recipes lives on in this blog.
Sometimes you’ll find a specific recipe, sometimes you’ll find more of an idea for a meal or celebration. I’m currently a working wife and mama who loves experimenting in the kitchen and making dishes that bring people together. Whether you’re just learning your way around the kitchen or a seasoned pro, you’ll find something fun to try
I live in Denver, CO with my two best taste-testers, my husband and 5-year-old son. We love exploring the great outdoorsFamily pic, eating Mexican food and family movies!
